There is no unwritten rule that you have to get married in June. Or any month of summer, for that matter. It might feel like the majority of dynamic duos decide to tie the knot when the temperatures are soaring, but there are plenty of couples who choose the chillier months of the year to celebrate their commitment to one another. Fall weddings are actually where it’s at. The nip in the air, the warm colored leaves and the dreamy autumnal sunsets all make the perfect backdrop to get married. Now that we have you dreaming of fall nuptials, here are a few of our favorite fall wedding trends:
Hello, Long Sleeves
A bride’s gotta keep warm somehow, right? One of the perks to picking out your dress for a fall wedding is that you can find one with gorgeous, dreamy long sleeves. Pure Wow highlighted several wedding dresses with more floaty, filmy gorgeousness than a gown better suited to the heat. Those who choose to wear a wedding dress can look for more romantically styled gowns with layers, opt for a cape or bolero jacket to wear with a strapless number, or pick out a convertible dress with removable sleeves, just in case things get sweaty on the dance floor.
Fruit in Your Flowers
As the leaves turn dramatic shades of orange, yellow and red, so do some of harvest season’s best-loved fruits and vegetables. While we’re not suggesting you walk down the aisle with a gourd in your hands – but, hey, if that’s your thing, go for it – but we do think you should consider a bigger, bountiful table arrangement including seasonal blooms and accented with a pomegranate or two. Planting a couple of those ruby red orbs in with some burgundy roses, orange lilies and dusky yellow marigolds can really set the autumnal theme, generating feelings of warmth, well-being and all that surrounding love.
Prefer to use seasonal produce as the vase? Yes, you can grab that pumpkin or gourd, scoop out the insides and fill it with fall flowers that match the falling leaves. Let guests take home the table centerpieces to remember the day and enjoy a little festive flair after the party has ended.
Traditionally, yes, the wedding cake is white. But if you’re planning a fall wedding, you don’t have to select the same old yellow cake with white buttercream and a couple-themed cake topper. Instead, spice up your dessert by opting for a pumpkin or gingerbread-flavor and finding caramel or dulce de leche frosting to match. Cake decorations can include fall flowers, artificial burgundy berries and even a couple of green accents in the form of pine trees or ferns. Your cake will be unique, tasty, and instagram-worthy all in one!
However you choose to style your fall wedding, you’ll certainly have a beautiful palate of colors to choose from. Use the shades to your advantage, and your dream wedding will be cosy, bountiful and utterly stunning, from your flowers to your decor!
