If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, you’ll want to make sure your home, hearth and Thanksgiving table centerpiece are bedecked with pretty decorations befitting the fall holiday, but don’t forget about your porch! Create a welcoming scene right outside your front door so people start feeling the holiday spirit as soon as they arrive. If you need some help getting started on your decor, here are a few ideas for pretty Thanksgiving porch decorations:

Pumpkins
Don’t put your pumpkins away just because Halloween is over! Pumpkins, gourds and squash make great Thanksgiving decorations since they’re seasonal and colorful. Fill a large shallow tray or box with pinecones, small pumpkins and gourds and set it on your patio table, or line your front steps with larger pumpkins. If you have flower boxes, nestle some miniature pumpkins in with your fall flowers.

Hanging Decorations
If you have a lot of wall space to work with, utilize it in your porch masterpiece! Swags and garlands of leaves and seasonal flowers look beautiful when hung above the door or window frames, and wreaths are a seasonal must-have as well. Wreaths made with colorful autumn leaves, acorns and pinecones are cute for Thanksgiving decorations, as opposed to the wintry ones made with pine needles and berries. Incorporate pretty fall florals into store-bought wreaths to make them instantly charming. If you’re interested in decorating your own, a lot of craft stores have plain ones onto which you can attach leaves, flowers, ribbon and other decorations using hot glue. Or simply weave flowers into the branches of the wreath for a simple and lovely look. If you have hooks or beams, try hanging rustic lanterns to use instead of your porch light.

Tabletop Decorations
Have a table on your porch? For a quick and beautiful centerpiece, fill a basket with flowers and put it on the table, centered on a piece of burlap or a wicker mat. Teleflora’s Golden Days Basket is full of bright sunflowers, lilies and mums that will add charm to any Thanksgiving porch. If you have a stemmed cake tray you won’t be using for Thanksgiving dinner, put it on the table topped with a simple arrangement of pumpkins and a couple of pretty votive candles in red or yellow.

Rustic Accessories
Some people like to use vintage ladders, wagons or milk crates in their Thanksgiving porch decorations to give their porch a homey style. Line the steps of an antique step stool with small pumpkins and candles, or fill a wagon or crate with fall flowers and pumpkins.
